Yamazaki was founded in 1924 and was built at a famous site where three rivers converge. The warehouses sit sheltered by a bamboo forest and the distillery can sometimes not been seen due to mist.
This 18 year old expression from the distillery is multi award-winning and has surged in price since its introduction in 1992. Matured in 80% sherry butts and 20% combination of Mizunara oak and ex Bourbon oak. It’s one of the top whiskies still being produced in the world today.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Earthy, umami, mushrooms, smoked orange marmalade, floral with dry sherry notes.
Palate: Garden herbs, dark fruits, honey sweetness, creamy toffee, orchard fruits and freshly cracked black peppercorns.
Finish: Orchard fruits combine with dark fruits and orange oil.
