The Macallan – 1824 Series Sienna Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
The Macallan Sienna is from their 1824 range and it is my personal favourite from that range. It contains whisky purely matured in 1st fill American oak and Spanish oak casks with an even heavier weighting on Spanish Oak.
This is the closest you’ll get to the classic Macallan 18. It is absolutely delicious with a really balanced sweetness and dry spiciness to it.
94.5 points Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible
Nose: Buttery praline, oily orange, cinnamon and clove spice, dark chocolate.
Palate: Chocolate-orange, aromatic spices, raisin bread, mixed peel and sherry soaked dried fruit.
Finish: Lots of dried fruit, more chocolate/orange, aromatic spiced oak and a touch of star anise.
Do not be afraid of no age statement whisky, after all it is just a number and for me this holds up well to the aged Macallan range of 15-18 year olds.
