As the name may suggest, each cask is carefully selected to evoke the qualities of a rare literary volume – those of character and collectability. Each bottle is individually numbered and presented in a gift tube. A “First Editions” bottling without doubt makes a valuable addition to anyone’s whisky library. This bottling is from the Authors’ Series which pays tribute to great writers of years past.

Each Authors’ Series release is dedicated to a particular figure, e.g. Dickens, Poe, Kipling, featuring a photograph or drawing of them on the front label and a paragraph detailing their history on the back. The wax-sealed, decanter-like bottles are presented in a handsome hinged gift box and the whiskies themselves are selected by Andrew Laing as especially rich and complex casks from distilleries across Scotland. With this in mind, an Authors’ Series single malt whisky is the perfect companion to a quiet evening with a classic novel.

This extremely collectable Springbank was first distilled in September 1990 and has spent three decades maturing in a single refill Hogshead. It was bottled in December 2020 at 44.1% abv and only 103 bottles were made available. Springbank has become one of the most sought after whiskies on the market a collectors item or one to enjoy in a club or in good company. Should you collect it you should see some fine returns in a few years.

About The Distillery

The Springbank Distillery is unique, it is the oldest independent family owned distillery in Scotland. Founded in 1828 on the site of Archibald Mitchell’s illicit still, the Springbank Distillery is now in the hands of his great great great grand son, Hedley G. Wright. Owned by Mr Wright’s J&A Mitchell & Co Ltd, Springbank is the only distillery in Scotland to carry out the full production process on the one site. One hundred percent of the traditional floor malting, maturation and bottling is completed at the distillery in Campbeltown.

It produces the most hand made whisky in Scotland, with traditional production methods being used throughout the process, and human involvement at each and every stage. The only distillery in Scotland to have never chill-filtered, nor do they add any artificial colourings to any of our single malts. It is the only distillery in Scotland to produce three different single malts, Springbank, Longrow and Hazelburn, using three different production methods. Springbank is a whisky that is in a class of its own which is why it is considered its own region and stands tall amongst some world favourites.
