Peated Whisky is a smoky style of whisky. In the initial stages of production the barley has been malted by burning peat, which adds a distinctive smoke flavour that carries right the way through the distillation and ageing process.
Made and hand bottled at the Great Southern Distillery in Albany on the harbour’s edge in Albany, this complex and elegant single malt whisky is distilled in traditional small batch copper pot stills from premium local barley. This Heavy Peat has been made using a peat from near the ‘Valley of the Giants’ and has been matured in an ex-bourbon American oak cask.
Adding a splash of water will unlock the malted barley and intense smokey characteristics.
