The ‘Connoisseurs Choice’ range was created by whisky visionary, George Urquhart, second generation of the family that still own Gordon & MacPhail.
Since 1968, almost 100 distilleries have been featured as part of the range, with over 2,000 individual bottlings, each telling its life story through its label: cask type, bottling date, strength, vintage, and tasting note.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Sweet vanilla aromas mingle with banana, green apple, and hints of passion fruit. Fresh citrus and cured meats are present.
Palate: Sweet and smooth; vibrant grapefruit and lemon combine with tropical fruits and a hint of pepper. A slightly ashy edge lingers.
Nose: (with water) Sweet dry hay notes with ripe banana, digestive biscuit, and lime are complemented by smoke.
Palate: (with water) Sweet initially followed by pepper. Tropical fruit flavours develop and a hint of grapefruit leads to toasted oak.
Finish: Long with lingering hints of cigar ash.
