Ledaig 2001 Aged 19 Years Connoisseurs Choice Single Malt Scotch Whisky – Gordon & MacPhail (700ml)

Volume: 700ml           ABV: 56.8%           Age: 19 Years Old           Country: Scotland

For more than a century, Gordon & MacPhail has been entrusted with new-make spirit from more than 100 Scottish distilleries to mature in their way, using casks made to their exacting specifications. The ‘Distillery Labels’ range is a celebration of these long standing and unique relationships. The history of this range heralds back to their very beginnings – to the days when distillery spirit was produced primarily to be used in blends. Because of the strong working relationships Gordon & MacPhail had with distillery owners, they would bottle and sell the spirit they created as single malt on the condition that they used their ‘house’ label with the caption “bottled by Gordon & MacPhail”.

This Ledaig (Heavily Peated Tobermory) was distilled in 2001 and spent 19 years in a refill ex Sherry Butt before being bottled in 2021 at 56.8 % ABV. Only 533 bottles were produced.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Soft subtle smoke, garden herbs and freshly cut grass, sweet Sherry notes appear and compliment dried figs, raisins, black cherries and dark chocolate.

Palate: Dried dark fruits at first then sour cherries and smoked dark chocolate. Espresso and dry tobacco with freshly cracked black pepper and some Christmas spice.

Finish: A long end to this extremely complex whisky, espresso, smouldering oak, black pepper, ashy and more black pepper.
