In ancient times, the land around I-Lan in Taiwan was called Kavalan, a mysterious land that was solely inhabited by the indigenous people of the Kavalan clan. The name was officially recognized by the Emperor of the Chin dynasty in the year of 1809 when the original city was also built under the same name.

Kavalan had always been kept primitive and pritected from the outside world by the Syue-shan mountain range which is abundant in high quality natural water that comes from deep within the mountain range. The mists of Kavalan and the spirits of the pasthave been created for you in this exquisite whisky.

Fino, Spanish for ‘Fine’, is the driest and most pale of all varieties of traditional sherry wine. It is best drunk comparatively young. Traditional Fino wine is usually non-sweet and is best consumed shortly after the bottle is opened in order to avoid losing its flavour. Kavalan’s Fino, however, provides mild sweetness that excites the palate. Solist Fino was matured in top Fino Sherry butts that were used for the wine making.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Big bold sherry aromas, dried dark fruits of raisins and sultanas, stewed plums and toasted figs. Dark chocolate, espresso, tropical fruits of mango and coconut, subtle citrus and green apples.

Palate: Coffee vanilla dark fudge chocolates, smoked and toasted oak, Dried dark fruits, tropical fruits and some citrus to balance it out.

Finish: Long and satisfying, dry sherry, soft oak and gentle spices.
