Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Wood shavings, perhaps a freshly sharpened pencil, rum and raisin ice cream, plenty of floral aromas of cut grass and some Sandalwood. Palate: There’s the signature apples and pears but with a little citrus added. Toffee sweetness attracts honey and malt. Finish: A little peppery and some spicy ginger.
Ichiro’s Malt Wine Wood Reserve Japanese Whisky (200ml)
Description
Volume: 200ml ABV: 46% Age: No Age Statement Country: Japan This is a blended malt from the Chichibu distillery built by Ichiro Akuto that has been aged in a large wooden egg shaped vessel which previously held Japanese red wine.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Freshly cut pears and apples, red wine notes appear showing sweet red berries a touch of marzipan and star anise. Palate: More of the red berries and the freshness of the pears and apples. The oak is very evident and well balance through the mouth. There are some really delicate spices here perhaps white pepper, also some freshly grated nutmeg. There’s now little touches of coconut and milk chocolate. Like a berry infused bounty bar! Finish: There’s the white pepper again and milk chocolate also some liquorice that’s creeping in.

Description
Volume: 200ml ABV: 46% Age: No Age Statement Country: Japan The Double Distilleries pure malt whisky combines malts from the closed Hanyu and new Chichibu distilleries. Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Plenty of oak with sweet aromas and slightly floral. Green fruits take the lead of pears and apples. Taste: More green fruits and sweetness with plenty of oak. Some spices of nutmeg and cinnamon. The mouthfeel does have a soapy effect. Finish: Lots of sweet spices, plenty of drying oak, liquorice, and creamy mint ice cream.
