Highland Park 30 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 45.2% Age: 30 Years Old Country: Scotland Scotland’s most northerly distillery (written in 2018) is situated on Orkney a large Island of the coast of northern Scotland. In the 18th century an infamous smuggler called Magnus Eunson operated an illicit distillery. When Magnus was caught one of the men who captured him was excise officer John Robertson who took over the running of the distillery in 1816. The distillery was founded in the 1790’s so this makes it one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. Every part of production here was done by hand and even today Highland Park still take time and hardwork by producing malted barley with tradition floor maltings. Highland Park is now owned by the Edrington Group and William Grant & Sons, it produces 2,500,000 litres of whisky annually. The distillery now has a very good visitors centre which was awarded 5 stars as a recognised attraction. We welcome a newly presented Highland park 30 years old to the Australian shores, hey 2021 isn’t that bad a year! Using casks which were filled in 1989 or prior Master Whisky Maker, Gordon Motion has used three different cask types to create this very tasty whisky. Ex-Bourbon casks were used to celebrate the honey and citrus notes, ex-Sherry (1st fill) were used to combine some of the darker stewed fruits and delicate spice notes and to ensure there was a balance to the whisky refill casks were used. This whisky is produced from 20% Highland Park maltings which were peated to around 20ppm and the rest of the mix they sourced from the Tamdhu maltings. Bottled at 45.2% ABV and introduced in spectacular modern viking artistic packaging.
