Glenmorangie Astar Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Volume: 700 ml ABV: 57.1% Age: No Age Statement Country: Scotland
One of the world’s best-selling old single malts, Glenmorangie’s spirit flows from Scotland’s tallest stills, over 16 feet tall for those that are counting. Over the years Bill Lumsden has been at the forefront of research into the influence of the cask on whisky and as such Glenmorangie is the leading exponent of whisky ‘finishes’, be that sherry, wine or virgin oak. The distillery selects its wood from the Mark Twain forest in the Ozark mountains and ensures that the wood is air dried rather than kilned.
The Astar bottling from Glenmorangie is a second incarnation of the much-loved Artisan cask bottling from several years ago. Astar in Gaelic means ‘journey’ and this bottle is the story of Glenmorangie’s quest to find the very best oak casks that will deliver perfection in the final product.
Or as Glenmorangie would have it: Pursuit of Perfection, from the tall peaks of the Missouri Ozarks to the sweeping garden of the Highlands of Scotland, Astar (in Gaelic it means journey) is the story of our quest to design the very best oak casks that will deliver perfection in the final spirit; the result is a deep, rich, silky and creamy malt that embodies Glenmorangie’s art of whisky creation.
