Glengoyne Cask Strength Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky – Batch 8 (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 59.2% Age: No Age Statement Country: Scotland
The Glengoyne Distillery is certainly one of Scotland’s hidden secrets when it comes to great single malt. Situated only a short drive away from Glasgow in Dumgoyne, it has an excellent visitors centre. The unique identity this distillery has is that the whisky is produced in the ‘Highland’ region of Scotland and the whisky is matured in the ‘Lowland’ region of Scotland. The road out the front of the distillery is known as the ‘Highland Line’ the division between the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland. Established in 1833 as the ‘Burnfoot’ distillery it boasts a great range of aged single malt. Glengoyne Distillery translates to ‘Glen of the Wild Geese’. It has also been made famous by its place in the movie Angles’ Share
The eighth batch of Glengoyne is finally here and there’s no denying that this single malt is still full of the rich sherry characters we sherry geels love. Created from single malt whiskies that were matured in a number of different barrels, with 50% of it coming from refill casks, 30% from first-fill sherry (60% European oak and 40% American oak), 10% first-fill bourbon and 10% Rioja casks.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Stewed apples and peaches combines with vanilla, rich oak spice with butterscotch and milk chocolate.
Palate: Banana fritters, stewed orchard fruits of apple and peaches, creamy chewy toffee and some very well integrated ginger snap biscuity spice.
Finish: More fruits and now some chocolatey malt balanced with cinnamon and peppery spice.
