Dalwhinnie 15 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 43% Age: 15 Years Old Country: Scotland
Dalwhinnie (Gaelic for ‘meeting place’) distillery sits on the edge of two whisky regions and could be presented with the title of being a Speyside distillery but also more heavily regarded as a Highland distillery. The distillery was originally named Strathspey and was founded in 1897 by James Buchanan. Owned by Diageo it produces around 2 million litres of spirit annually. The distillery was completely refurbished in 1986 and then a vistitors centre created 5 years later. Dalwhinnie was used as a core whisky in the blends ‘Buchanan’ and ‘Black & White’. The second highest distillery in Scotland at 326 meters above sea-level just 24 meters short of Scotland’s highest Distillery Braeval at 350 meters.
This core expression from Dalwhinnie is subtle, smooth and lightly smoky. Matured in both ex-bourbon and sherry casks. A part of Diageo’s ‘Classic Malts’ Range.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Toffee sweetness, plenty of caramelised fruits, creamy, honey and a little floral. Very clean and fresh.
Taste: Lots of malted barley, cereals, vanilla, the sweetness of sugar syrup, blends well together.
Finish: Still plenty of malted barley, cereals, little spice and some nuttiness.
