Craigellachie 2008 Aged 9 Years Single Malt Scotch Whisky – Hepburn’s Choice  (700ml)

Volume: 700ml           ABV: 46%           Age: 9 Years Old       Country: Scotland

Cask Number: HL18664
Date of Distilling: 2007
Date of Bottling: 2021

Matured In: a Single Sherry Hogshead
Un-Chillfiltered

The Hepburn’s Choice range comprises whiskies bottled either from specially-selected single casks or from small batches of two to three casks. Always bottled at 46% alcohol, and naturally without artificial colouring or chill-filtration. Each bottling is chosen to showcase the specific characteristics of one of Scotland’s whisky producing regions, or those of a distillery in particular. This range is named in honour of our directors’ late maternal grandfather, William Hepburn, who travelled the globe with his job in the Diplomatic Service. With a fine judgement honed at many embassy functions, Mr Hepburn was a connoisseur of his homeland’s whiskies: with this in mind we believe these bottlings would indeed have been “Hepburn’s Choice”. Distilled at the Criagellachie Distillery in Speyside in 2008 this single cask whisky was matured for under a decade in an ex-Bourbon barrel. Bottled in 2018 at 46% ABV with only 368 bottles available.

About The Distillery

The Craigellachie Distillery was opened in 1891 by the Craigellachie Distillery Company Ltd and was mainly used for producing White Horse blended whisky. In 2004 they released their first single malt aged 14 years. The distillery is now currently owned by John Dewar and Sons and they collect the water for making whisky from a spring on Little Conval Hill. The distillery also uses worm tubs style condensers for their stills, this allows for the new make spirit to retain more of a sulphurous and meaty character. With this malt whisky you can expect perfume, sweetness and spice with a hint of mint and freshly cut lawn.
