The word “Cardhu” derives from the Scots Gaelic Carn Dubh, meaning “Black Rock”. Cardhu is a Speyside distillery near Archiestown in Moray, Scotland. The distillery was founded in 1824 by whisky smuggler named John Cumming and his wife Helen. Now run by owned and run by spirits powerhouse Diageo and the distillery’s Scotch whisky makes up an important part of the Johnnie Walker blended whiskies.
A very well balanced single malt from a very well known distillery, bottled at 40% ABV.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Orchard fruits of apple and pear, rich with good body.
Taste: Gentle on the palate, soft peat smoke, fruity sweetness and malted barley.
Finish: Long and smooth with some dried fruits and subtle smoke.
