Bunnahabhain Aged 10 Years Heavily Peated Single Malt Scotch Whisky – Gordon & MacPhail Discovery Series (700ml)

Volume: 700ml          ABV: 43%          Age: 10 Years Old           Country: Scotland

The Bunnahabhain Distillery is the most northerly and remote on the island of Islay and was opened in 1883 to make use of excess grain from local farmers. The name Bunnahabhain translates as ‘mouth of the river’ and if you ever visit will see that the distillery is built near the mouth of the River Margadale which flows into the Sound of Islay. Pronounced Bú-na-ha-venn, this Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky is quite distinct from the many others on the island, given the wonderfully gentle taste profile for which it is known.

Located in the north-east of Scotland in the heart of the world famous whisky producing region of Speyside, Gordon & MacPhail is an independent family owned and managed firm which has been bottling Single Malt Whiskies for over 119 years. From its humble beginnings as a retailer, Gordon and MacPhail has grown to become a diverse and dynamic company with a number of different business interests. Today the company is a retailer, wholesaler, exporter, bottler of Single Malt Scotch Whisky and distiller, owning Benromach Distillery in Forres. Gordon & MacPhail is owned and directed by the third and fourth generation of the Urquhart family and employs over 130 people from its base in Elgin.

This bottling is part of the Gordon and MacPhail’s ‘Discovery’ range. Each expression in this range is aged to highlight a particular flavour profile – Sherry, Smoky or Bourbon. This Bunnahabhain pays homage to ‘Smoky’ with an 10 year old heavily peated whisky from Islay.
