Volume: 700ml ABV: 53.7% Age: No Age Statement Country: Scotland
The bottler is Douglas Laing an independent bottler of fine Scotch whisky established in 1948. The concept is to enable whisky lovers around the world a chance to come as close as they can to sampling whisky as it was straight from the cask or having a whisky experience like no other.
This bottling is taken from their range of ‘remarkable regional malts’ which is a series of malt whiskies created to take the whisky connoisseur on a journey of the whisky regions of Scotland. Big Peat from Islay, The Epicurean from the Lowlands, Rock Oyster from the country’s islands, Scallywag from Speyside, The Gauldron from Campbeltown and Timorous Beastie from the Highlands. The Big Peat Christmas Edition has now been produced for a few years and has become a collectors item with whisky connoisseurs around the world. The spirit inside is bottled at cask strength drawing the whisky from Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila and Port Ellen distilleries. This has created a big punchy whisky full of maritime and smokey notes. Think chimney soot, big, ashy, oceanic and tarry which are all the qualities of Islay in one bottle.
