Benromach 2008 Peat Smoke Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Volume: 700ml           ABV: 46%           Age: No Age Statement           Country: Scotland

It was always the ambition of John Urquhart and subsequent generations of the Urquhart family that one day independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail would own and manage a distillery of its own. This dream became a reality in 1993 when the company purchased Benromach Distillery in Forres.

At the time the distillery was virtually derelict, all the fixtures and fittings had been ripped out and sold by the previous owners. Drawing upon generations of expertise in the whisky industry, Benromach was carefully and painstakingly re-equipped ready to recommence operation before it was officially reopened by HRH Prince Charles in 1998.

Just two experienced distillers create Benromach using the finest Scottish barley and the purest spring water from the nearby Romach Hills. They personally ensure that only the highest quality spirit is filled into sturdy oak casks before being left to mature at Benromach Distillery for many years.

‘Pour yourself a dram of this seriously smoky single malt whisky… BenRomach only produce very small batches of this unique Benromach Speyside whisky, so you’re one of the few people who are able to enjoy it. The finest Scottish barley is malted with high levels of peat smoke at 67ppm (parts per million: the phenol level, to those in the know).’

Matured in first fill bourbon barrels. This is a 2008 distillation and it was bottled in 2017 at 46% abv.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Cured and smoked meats, honey sweetness, clove and citrus with hints of herbs and dried fruits.
