Ballechin is produced at the Edradour distillery. The name Ballechin originates from a fellow Perthshire farm distillery, which sadly closed its doors in 1927. There, Alfred Barnard, who catalogued all the distilleries in the UK in the 1880’s, made reference to having experienced a peated whisky.
Ballechin was first produced in 2003 using heavily peated barley which has a peated level of no less than 50ppm
Part of the Straight From The Cask range. This bottling was aged for 11 years in a single Oloroso sherry cask. Distilled on the 2nd of February 2007 and bottled on the 18th September 2018 from cask number 18 Only 955 bottles were produced worldwide.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Smoked dry fruit, dry and aromas of chocolate and coffee beans.
Palate: Cherry ripe, deep fried and served with a drizzle of honey and plenty of ashy smoke.
Finish: Heavy smoke and golden syrup.
