Ardmore Legacy Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Volume: 700ml           ABV: 40%           Age: No Age Statement          Country: Scotland

Ardmore Legacy is a mix of 80% peated malt and 20% unpeated malt. It was first released in 2014 to replace the Ardmore Traditional. The Ardmore Legacy brings a lightly peated, wood spiced flavour profile to the table.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Malty sweetness (think breakfast cereals), with candy apple and toffee. Smoked almonds and marzipan. Vanilla. Hints of bread crust. Gentle peat and charcoal, easy to notice but not on the Islay level. Honeyed nuts and cinnamon.

Taste: Fairly light, although I have to say it’s less noticeable because the peaty notes add weight. Some caramel sweetness and mocha, with nice charred notes and roasted coffee beans. Apples. Also light earthy notes and spices. Fades away really quickly though, leaving a thin impression

Finish: Medium long, fairly dry and not too intense, with roasted notes and light spices.

About the Distillery

The distillery was first built in 1899 by William Teacher and Sons and changed hands in 1976 when it was taken over by Allied Brewers which are now more commonly known as Allied Distillers. The current owners Fortune Brands Inc produce around 5,100,000 litres of malt whisky per year and this is a major contributor to Teacher’s Highland Cream which is very fitting as they were the original owners.

The distillery is based in Kennethmont which is a beautiful village north west of Aberdeenshire south of Huntly in Scotland’s Highland region. Expect a zesty single malt whisky full of citrus fruits and a little peat smoke. A lingering mouth feel that just keeps on giving.
