Ardbeg Uigeadail Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 54.2% Age: No Age Statement Country: Scotland
Located on the Isle of Islay in the Scottish Hebrides, the Ardbeg Distillery has stood for over 200 years recently celebrating their bicentenary in 2015. The distillery was completely shutdown between 1981 to 1989 before then operated in a limited capacity prior to being purchase by Glenmorangie in 1997 and subsequently coming under the control of Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy in 2004. An upgrade to the distillery completed in early 2021 saw a brand new still house and a new set of stills doubling the distilleries production capacity to 2,400,000 litres per annum.
Ardbeg Uigeadail (pronounced ‘Oog-a-dal’) is a special vatting that marries Ardbeg’s traditional deep, smoky notes with luscious, raisiny tones of old ex-Sherry casks. It’s non chill-filtered at high strength, which retains maximum flavour and gives more body and added depth. In 2009, Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible named Ardbeg Uigeadail ‘World Whisky of the Year’ – in praise of its “utter silky brilliance” and “complexity on a level only a handful of distilleries in the world can even dream of reaching.”
