According to Indian Mythology, when Gods and Rakshasas – the demons – churned the oceans using the mountain Meru as a churner, a golden pot sprang out containing the Elixir of Life. That was called the “Amrut”. The great founders of the distillery aptly named it Amrut Distilleries.
To retain the natural characteristics of this oak aged Indian Malt Whisky, they do not chill filter and it comes straight from the barrel in its natural colour.
Kadhambam is a Tamil word meaning combination or mixture. True to its name, Amrut Kadhambam is a novel Single Malt that combines in itself Rum, Sherry and Brandy notes. Regular Single Malt is further matured consecutively for a further period in each casks that were previously used to mature Rum, Sherry and Brandy. In this process the Malt successively gains the aroma and the notes of Rum, Sherry and Brandy. The result is a truly gratifying mix of notes. As a succession of subtle and complex notes unravel, Amrut Kadhambam is sure to exhilarate your nose and palate with a first-of-kind experience.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich and floral, honeyed, nutty, new oak, vanilla, lifted fruit aromas of citrus and tropical fruits.
Palate: Candied fruits, subtle oak with a light dusting of peat and integrated spice.
Finish: Warming and complex with a dry, long finish.
About the Distillery
This whisky distillery is owned by Amrut Distilleries Ltd which is an Indian company that produces distilled beverages.
Amrut is the first single malt whisky to be made in India. The brand became famous after world famous whisky connoisseur Charanvirsingh Shera gave it a rating of 82 out of 100 in 2005 and 2010. In 2010 Charanvirsingh named Amrut Fusion single malt whisky as the third best in the world.
Amrut whisky has been awarded 92 and 94 in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible and is known in the industry to be one of the highest quality single malt whiskies produced in the world.
