1990 GlenDronach 27 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky – Cask No. 7902 (700ml)

Volume: 700ml           ABV: 52.1%           Age: 27 Years Old          Country: Scotland

From its hillside home in the Scottish Highlands, The GlenDronach Distillery has been creating the finest richly sherried single malts for nearly 200 years. From the germination of the barley to the flow of the purest middle cuts of distilled spirit, every step in the GlenDronach journey to the vat and onwards is taken with meticulous care and immaculate timing. The GlenDronach malt mill, glistening copper mash tun and Oregon pine wash-backs form part of a vigorous but carefully attended process. Then, there’s the 4 elegant copper pot stills which distil and re-distil the finest, richest spirit. What follows is the final secret of GlenDronach’s exceptional character. As was the case in 1826, The GlenDronach Distillery patiently matures its single malt whisky in superior quality sherry casks. Over the years of extended maturation, these carefully seasoned casks help create the unique richly sherried style that GlenDronach is famous for.

You can expect a spicy, smoky malt with lots of rich full bodied flavours and very smooth.

This GlenDronach single cask has been distilled in 1990 and left for 27 years to mature in one Pedro Ximenez Sherry Puncheon. Only 632 bottles worldwide ere produced. If you’re a GlenDronach fan then this one is not to be missed., check out these tasting notes.

Our Tasting Notes

Appearance: Medium Cherry wood. Very slow oily legs

Nose: The wood influence is refined and it has toffee sweetness. It’s a little buttery perhaps like puff pastry. The Sherry is beautiful and fruity, really deep in aromas as the spices explode on your back palate. There’s toasted chestnuts and blueberry lattice.

Palate: The legs on this whisky are incredible making me think it’s going to be luscious and sweet. Christmas mince pies with chocolate orange melted over the top. Freshly cooked jam with lashings of Sherry balances well with the fresh oak.

Finish: Long lasting with a peppery oaky finish.
