Arran 21 Years Old Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 46% Age: 21 Years Old Country: Scotland “Welcome to one of the few remaining independent distilleries in Scotland”. The Isle of Arran distillery was build in 1995 and is now one of two distilleries on the Isle of Arran on Scotland’s West Coast. The distillery boasts an ideal spot for production and distribution of whisky with warm fresh sea air, close proximity to the mainland and an abundance of fresh soft water. In the early 19th century, there were more than 50 whisky distilleries on Arran, most of them illegal and carefully hidden from the eyes of the taxmen. The Island’s malt whisky was shipped to the mainland and enjoyed by the gentry, who regularly ‘took the Arran waters’. It was acclaimed at the time as the best whisky in Scotland – only rivalled by those from the ‘Glen of Livet’ The Distillery is situated at Lochranza, in the north of the Island. Lochranza in Arran really is perfect location for producing the perfect Malt. Here’s why: • The area is home to the purest water in all of Scotland – water that’s been cleansed by red granite and softened as it slowly meanders from the mountaintops into nearby Loch na Davie. • Arran enjoys a warm microclimate – the atmosphere of sea breezes and clear mountain air, together with the warm flow of the Gulf Stream is ideal for the speedy maturation of single malts. • The Island has a reputation for producing the highest quality whisky You can expect a sweet whisky, mostly un-peated, and often with apple notes. A great every day whisky, with exceptional cask finishes for that something a little different. The Arran long awaited 21 year-old has now joined the core range of single malt whiskies. This limited edition release of 9,000 bottles worldwide introduces this rich and complex expression of some of the oldest whisky in their warehouses. “This whisky is truly stunning. The nose immediately reveals delicious sweet Sherry notes whilst the palate has elegance and finesse. The first sip remains true to the character of Arran – fresh fruit and sweet spice in abundance. I am proud of this Single Malt as it joins our core range as one of our oldest expressions to date. – James MacTaggart, Master Distiller.”
