Redbreast Aged 12 Years Irish Single Pot Still Whiskey (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 40% Age: 12 Years Old Country: Ireland
Redbreast is a brand of single pot still Irish Whiskey produced by Irish Distillers who also produce Jameson. It is the largest selling single pot still Irish Whiskey in the world.
The maturation process consists of spirit being given time to mature in European oak ex-Oloroso Sherry barrels and American oak ex-bourbon barrels.
Matured for no less than 12 years this single pot still whiskey is truly superb and a leader in its field.
So what exactly is single pot still whiskey? Essentially, it’s whiskey that is made from malted and un-malted barley and no other grain. It is unblended (thus the “single pot” bit.) And it must be made in Ireland to be considered as such.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: It’s nutty , rich and oily. dried orange peel, lemon peel and apple peel. Hints of ginger, freshly cut melon and freshly cut grass.
Taste: Toasted almonds and stewed citrus fruits, wee hints of marzipan, dried raisins and figs. Hints of Sherry sweetness. Very luscious.
Finish: The finish gives vanilla creme anglaise, all spice and a long satisfying conclusion.
