We’ve decided not to scrap the name so we’re calling this ‘The Vatted Malt of the Year’. This is truly a marriage of malts that will leave you wondering ‘what will Douglas Laing come up with next’?
They take Islay whiskies blessed with big peaty notes, salty tongue tantalizers, ashy chimney soot, maritime ocean sea breezes and well just plain Islay sophistication. This truly is Islay in a bottle but at Cask Strength. There is no chill filtration so your enjoying a pure high quality whisky which gives the Islay whisky lover everything they ever wanted and more.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Standing on the beach on Guy Fawkes night with sparklers in the air and the tide out. The freshly cut wood of the bonfire can be detected as it smolders and crackles. The aromas from the ocean bed fill the misty air. The wind throws sea water spray in your direction and there’s a freshness like no other.
Taste: The palate is pleasantly surprised with plenty of citrus and peaty notes. The vanilla sweetness drives this whisky around the gums and compliments the smoke with a drying sensation and plenty of spice.
Finish: A long very pleasant sweet finish of candied citrus peel and salty ash. The cask strength gives a bite and helps this whisky to settle nicely on the palate, now your awaiting another sip.
