Volume: 500ml ABV: 50% Age: 5 Years Old Country: Japan Eigashima Shuzo was founded in 1888 in Akashi City, Hyogo Prefecture, and first acquired a whisky-making license in 1919. The White Oak distillery was established in 1984. The stills are only in operation for two months every year and so their production is very small. Most of their whisky goes into blends, however a very limited number of single malts do come on the market under the titular Akashi brand. Matured for 5 years in a first fill ex Bourbon barrel before being bottled at 50% ABV. Akashi are well known for their blends and now they have shown what they can do with their single malt and it’s very good indeed.
