Dr Bill Lumsden and his team bring you the seventh release in the Private Edition series and it is a triumph! Milsean (pronounced Meel-Shawn) is gaelic for Sweet Things, a truly fitting name for this whisky. It has been designed with the traditional Scottish ‘sweetie’ shop in mind. A real Willy Wonka experience.
The whisky has been aged in bourbon barrels, and finished in specially sourced red winecasks from the Duoro region of Portugal. It’s the heavy toasting of these casks that results in increased caramelisation inside the oak, giving this whisky is sweetness, contributing a tarry fruit element.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: A summer visit to a seaside sweet shop, buttery tablet, candy canes, ripe fruit and coconut ice.
Taste: The confectionary mix continues, sugar coated plums and cherries. Candied orange and citrus develop, a hint of the oak. The addition of water here changes the whisky from sweet shop to fruit shop, freshening up some of the fruit flavours.
Finish: The finish brings a blalance of sweet and spice with elements of brown sugar, ginger biscuits and fruit cake.
