The Firkin Whisky Co. is all about friendship and character. Two old mates meet in bar in Tokyo. One is an ex Head Of Malts for UDV/Diageo, Mr Mike Collings, the other, the notorious Mr Raw Cask, independent bottler Mr Robin Tucek. Together they agree that they can produce independently bottled whisky like no other and so they created The Firkin Whisky Co. For Mike and Robin it’s all about using years of experience and two incredibly developed palates to pick and create whiskies that are at the perfect point of maturation. Bottle them at the perfect alcohol percentage for maximum flavour and enjoyment. As the lads say, “Our sole aim is to produce and share whiskies that absolutely Firkin delicious.”
The Aultmore Distillery is owned and run by John Dewar and Sons but has changed hands a few times during its long history when it was founded in 1896. Aultmore in Gaelic means ‘Big Burn’ and the water for the spirit is taken from the Burn of Auchindorran which helps it produce around 2,100,000 litres of spirit annually. The Aultmore spirit has for a long time been a contributor to Dewars blends and is best known for its 12 year old single malt which has a very distinctive taste. With this whisky you should expect a crisp but delicate single malt with plenty of fresh fruits, clean and rounded.
This single malt whisky was distilled at the Aultmore distillery before being placed in an ex-Tawny Port Cask and left to mature for 10 years. Bottled at 48.9% abv as part of the The Firkin Whisky Co. Limited Edition Single Cask Series. A limited release of only 273 bottles.
