The Coopers Choice range of single cask whiskies from Scotland’s finest distilleries is our homage to these fine craftsmen and their important role in the Scotch Whisky industry. Owned by The Vintage Malt Whisky Company which was founded in 1992 by Brian Cook who was the export manager for the Auchentoshan and Bowmore Distilleries. Brian’s aim was to produce a range of malt whiskies from his country’s finest distilleries and make them available to independent wine and spirit importers throughout the world. Now the Vintage Malt Whisky Company is certainly a family-run business with Andrew Crook (Brian’s Son) taking on the mantle as Managing Director. The comoany has now exported over 5 million bottles worldwide.
Distilled in 2010 at an undisclosed Orkney distillery and bottled in 2020 at 56% cask strength. This single malt was matured in an American oak ex-bourbon barrel for most of its life then it was then given a finish in an ex Jamaican Rum Cask. Distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2020 at 56% cask strength. Only 360 bottles were made available for worldwide distribution.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Honey sweetness mingles with floral notes of heather and garden herbs, some tropical fruits of papaya and mango with some balanced oak notes.
Palate: The honey sweetness continues but now combines with salted caramel and some barrel char or smouldering oak, tropical fruits and garden herbs linger.
Finish: Some smoke and spice with floral notes of lavender give this whisky a medium finish.
