The Old Malt Cask are owned and operated by Hunter Laing and are one of the most established brands in the single cask whisky market. The Hunter Laing tasting panel review hundreds of whisky every month and only the finest and highest quality whisky is allowed to be bottled under The Old Malt Cask label. Taking inspiration from whiskies from Speyside, Islay, Highlands, Islands and Lowlands of Scotland. Most of these whiskies are bottled as a single cask cask strength at an abv of 50%.
The Independently owned Loch Lomond Company currently own this large distillery which produces around 2,500,000 litres of whisky per year. There are 8 single malts currently produced from this distillery Loch Lomond, Old Rusdhu, Inchmurrin and Croftengea are the main bottling labels you would tend to discover. Croftengea is named to signify the most heavily peated whisky in the releases. This distillery was first known as the Littlemill Distillery and was established in 1965 but a distillery was known to be on the site or there abouts back in 1814. This distillery tends to bring you wonderful notes of vanilla and fresh cereals, spicy and ginger with some peppery flavours. A very refreshing whisky on the palate.
Matured for no less than 12 years in a refill Hogshead barrel and bottled at 50% abv. Only 339 bottles available.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Vanilla custard and orchard fruits of pear, apple and apricots. Pineapple and honey sweetness.
Palate: Dark toffee brittle, charred pineapple, sea salted caramel and hints of smouldering embers.
Finish: Hints of peat smoke and fruit salad.
