Macduff 11 Years Old 2006 Single Malt Scotch Whisky – North Star (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 55.2% Age: 11 Years Old Country: Scotland Chill-Filtered?: Non chill-filtered
In 2016 Iain Croucher began North Star Spirits in Glasgow after working for the independent bottler AD Rattray. North Start has since bottled a wide variety of both Single Malt and Blended Scotch Whisky including some American whiskies too. The brand is named after the star ‘Polaris’ – the current Northern pole star. The theme of astronomy continues with various releases being named after other stars in the universe including ‘Vega’ and ‘Sirius’. The bottler was awarded ‘Independent Bottler of the Year’ at the Scottish Whisky Awards in 2020.
The Macduff Distillery was built in 1962 and is sometimes more well known as the Glen Deveron Distillery. it is situated in the Highland whisky region of Scotland and is owned by Bacardi. The distillery boasts 5 stills and produces around 2,400,000 litres of spirit every year which is mostly used for blended whisky. Independent bottlings from this distillery are right on the money.
Spirit taken from the MacDuff Distillery in Scotland’s Highland region was matured in a refill ex-Bourbon American oak hogshead barrel for no less than 11 years then bottled at cask strength. Un-chillfiltered, natural colour and only 240 bottles produced for the world whisky market. I’d be snapping this one up quickly before it’s all gone.
