The Independently owned Loch Lomond Company currently own this large distillery which produces around 2,500,000 litres of whisky per year. There are 8 single malts currently produced from this distillery Loch Lomond, Old Rusdhu, Inchmurrin and Croftengea are the main bottling labels you would tend to discover. Croftengea is named to signify the most heavily peated whisky in the releases. This distillery was first known as the Littlemill Distillery and was established in 1965 but a distillery was known to be on the site or there abouts back in 1814. This distillery tends to bring you wonderful notes of vanilla and fresh cereals, spicy and ginger with some peppery flavours. A very refreshing whisky on the palate.
North Star Spirits is an independent bottler based in Glasgow, Scotland. They pride themselves on bottling the finest single malt Scotch whisky, blended whisky and blended malt Scotch whisky. Producing artisan single cask whisky from various regions of Scotland as well as bottling rums, gins and Bourbon whiskey. All products are small batch, bottled at cask strength.
This independent bottling of Loch Lomond is a peated whisky bottled under the name Croftengea. It was taken from from one Refill Bourbon cask which was distilled in March 2007 and bottled at 49.5% ABV in February 2021 by North Star Spirits. Only 255 bottles were produced for worldwide distribution.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Freshly cracked black peppercorns, candy floss and charred oak.
Taste: Salted caramel, floral notes of freshly cut grass, tropical fruits mingle with orchard fruits and more peppery spice.
Finish: Peat smoke, poached apples and sea spray.
