Volume: 700ml           ABV: 47.3%           Age: No Age Statement           Country: Scotland The Kilchoman Distillery was established in 2005, Kilchoman (pronounced Kilhoman) is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland. Based on a farm on the rugged west coast of Islay, Kilchoman is the first distillery to be built on the Island for 125 years. Kilchoman gives everyone the chance to see what is best about the grass-roots traditions of malt distilling. As well as being one of only a handful of distilleries still practicing floor malting, they also grow their own barley at the distillery, completing all parts of the production process at the distillery – from barley to bottling. This limited release from the Kilchoman Distillery is all about PX Sherry and peat smoke maturation. It’s one of the most sought after combinations in the whisky industry and when done right it can be a memorable experience. A total of 33 casks were used for this expression, including nine Pedro Ximénez casks that fully matured its whisky, as well as 24 Pedro Ximénez casks which finished its whisky for a period of 12 to 18 months. This is a traditionally smoked single malt with the sweetness and fruitiness of Pedro Ximénez Sherry. Simply delicious.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Strawberry preserve, orange marmalade, earthy peat, whisky soaked raisins and freshly malted barley. Palate: Dried dark fruits of plums, dates and figs, dark caramel, smoked barley and a peppery spice. Finish: Martine notes combine with dried fruits, dark toffee and citrus peel.
