Fleurieu Distillery Englishman In New York Australian Single Malt Whisky (700ml)
The Fleurieu Distillery is situated on the waters edge in the river port of Goolwa in South Australia. The environmental conditions are perfect to create a whisky which exhumes expressive maple, vanilla oak and spicy sea air. The distillery is owned and operated by Gareth and Angela Andrews who have been distilling quietly until their first release in 2017 caught the attention of many whisky drinkers world wide. Since this first release the distillery has been graced with many local and international awards for their whisky including Gold medals in Australia and Gold in the United States.
This is the final release in a trilogy of Tawny cask releases from the distillery. The highly enjoyed ‘Message In A Bottle’ was then followed by ‘Tea In The Sahara’ and now we celebrate ‘Englishman In New York’. A vatting of five 100 litre first fill ex Tawny and ex Fronti casks we see the whisky take on a more coastal umami character overlaid with a sweet salt finish. *Fronti – (formerly known as white port, but no longer due to Geographic Appellation laws) is a mixture of predominately Muscat Blanc Petit Grains, Muscadelle and Semillon, the grapes are harvested late in the season to achieve rich and intense flavours. It could possibly be described as part way between a Tokay and a Sauternes in character. Bottled at 46% ABV with only 550 bottles being produced.
