The Coopers Choice range of single cask whiskies from Scotland’s finest distilleries is our homage to these fine craftsmen and their important role in the Scotch Whisky industry. Owned by The Vintage Malt Whisky Company which was founded in 1992 by Brian Cook who was the export manager for the Auchentoshan and Bowmore Distilleries. Brian’s aim was to produce a range of malt whiskies from his country’s finest distilleries and make them available to independent wine and spirit importers throughout the world.  Now the Vintage Malt Whisky Company is certainly a family-run business with Andrew Crook (Brian’s Son) taking on the mantle as Managing Director. The company has now exported over 5 million bottles worldwide.

The Tomintoul Distillery is built in the highest village in the highlands of Scotland and can sometimes be very hard to access due to the road being blocked with snow and ice in the winter. However hard it is to get here the storage facilities at Tomintoul are huge and boast a warehouse that can accomodate ten million litres of malt within the grounds. The water source is the local Ballantruan Spring and with this water they produce about 3,000,000 litres of spirit annually. The current owners are Angus Dundee plc and the distillery has four stills to produce the spirit. This spirit is mainly used and a very valuable contribution to Whyte and MacKay’s blends. You should expect a light bodied and smooth single malt, not very complex and great for after dinner. This single malt is an excellent whisky to start your whisky journey and enjoy for many decades later with vast choice of age statements any whisky enthusiast would want in their collection.

This single malt whisky was distilled at the Tomintoul Distillery in May 2005 where is was initially matured in an ex-Bourbon Barrel before being finished in an ex-Marsala wine cask. Bottled at 51.5% ABV and only 342 bottles produced for worldwide distribution.
