The Fleurieu Distillery is situated on the waters edge in the river port of Goolwa in South Australia. The environmental conditions are perfect to create a whisky which exhumes expressive maple, vanilla oak and spicy sea air. The distillery is owned and operated by Gareth and Angela Andrews who have been distilling quietly until their first release in 2017 caught the attention of many whisky drinkers world wide. Since this first release the distillery has been graced with many local and international awards for their whisky including Gold medals in Australia and Gold in the United States.

At the Fleurieu Distillery, barrels are not just numbered but named too. Names on casks enables the distillers to recognise what size it is, where it is stored and can even reveal the type of barrel. In the series of larger format barrels (225 litre barriques) fondly called “The Matriarchs” are casks named after women in our family. A fun-loving recognition of their influence in shaping not only the lives of those they encountered but also those of future generations. Lively, sweet with depth of flavour, this Apera whisky perfectly encapsulates the collective ‘personalities’ that have gone into creating this release.
