Volume: 700ml ABV: 45.8% Age: 15 Years Old Country: Scotland
This release of Port Askaig is a blend of peated whisky from 1997 (20%) and fruitier spirit from 2001 (80%). Matured in first-fill oloroso-sherry casks, this 15-year-old whisky has a silky texture with excellent balance between sweetness and stony smoke, and hints of violets and lemon sherbet.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Like stewing dates before you make sticky date pudding. Sauteed raisins in a pan with a splash of Sherry. Sweet barley and salted butter, blackberry jam, a drizzle of honey and Citrus fruits. Earthy and smokey, a very pleasant nose.
Palate: Has toffee and floral at the front, plenty of Sherry sweetness and Iodine. A few spices are released of pepper and nutmeg. Slightly citrusy which fits perfectly. More toffee and now some dark chocolate with a little touch of barbecued meats.
Finish: Long delicious finish, charred oak, lingering charcoal. Slightly salty and still has the Sherry sweetness and the sweet peat.
