Strathearn Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky – Batch 001 (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 46.6% Age: No Age Statement Country: Scotland
Every batch of whisky produced from this tiny distillery will be unique, that’s the Strathearn guarantee. Using various distillation methods from double distillation to triple distillation, using a mixture of peated malt and unpeated malt, using only small 50 litre casks. Experimenting with ex Sherry barrels, ex Bourbon barrels and ex Rum barrels to name a few. The distillery was founded in 2013 and holds the claim as Scotland’s tiniest distillery. Located in the village of Methven, close to Crieff in Scottish Highlands. Using an 800 litre wash still, and a spirit still with a 400 litre charge this is a small batch craft distillery. In 2019 independent bottler Douglas Laing & Co acquired Strathearn outright for an undisclosed sum – making it the company’s first distillery acquisition. We’re sure there’s many more surprises in store for this tiny distillery.
Introducing the first release of Strathearn Highland Single Malt. Strathearn Distillery joined the Douglas Laing family in October 2019 and, in-line with their approach, this Small Batch bottling is offered proudly at 46.6% alcohol strength, without colouring or chill-filtration. Despite being distilled in 2013 and 2014, this is a surprisingly mature Single Malt having spent its life in the finest European oak and ex-Sherry casks. Anticipate a soft and mellow style developing to rich red fruits and subtle sweetness from those Sherry casks.
