The Coopers Choice range of single cask whiskies from Scotland’s finest distilleries is our homage to these fine craftsmen and their important role in the Scotch Whisky industry. Owned by The Vintage Malt Whisky Company which was founded in 1992 by Brian Cook who was the export manager for the Auchentoshan and Bowmore Distilleries. Brian’s aim was to produce a range of malt whiskies from his country’s finest distilleries and make them available to independent wine and spirit importers throughout the world.  Now the Vintage Malt Whisky Company is certainly a family-run business with Andrew Crook (Brian’s Son) taking on the mantle as Managing Director. The company has now exported over 5 million bottles worldwide.

The Independently owned Loch Lomond Company currently own this large distillery which produces around 2,500,000 litres of whisky per year. There are 8 single malts currently produced from this distillery Loch Lomond, Old Rusdhu, Inchmurrin and Croftengea are the main bottling labels you would tend to discover. Croftengea is named to signify the most heavily peated whisky in the releases.  This distillery was first known as the Littlemill Distillery and was established in 1965 but a distillery was known to be on the site or there abouts back in 1814. This distillery tends to bring you wonderful notes of vanilla and fresh cereals, spicy and ginger with some peppery flavours. A very refreshing whisky on the palate.

A Loch Lomond matured in an ex-Bourbon Cask for over 27 years. This Loch Lomond was made under the name Old Rhosdhu which was discontinued in 2000. The name Rhosdhu is today used internally by the distillery’s owner to classify one of its many spirit types: an unusual single grain produced by distilling 100% malted barley in a continuous still. The resulting whisky is bottled as Loch Lomond Single Grain. Old Rhosdhu is a fruity and floral whisky obtained by maximising reflux. This bottling is a 27 year old lightly peated single malt aged in a single bourbon cask from February 1994 to 2021, when it was bottled up at 47% ABV with an outturn of 360 bottles for The Cooper’s Choice range.
