The Coopers Choice range of single cask whiskies from Scotland’s finest distilleries is our homage to these fine craftsmen and their important role in the Scotch Whisky industry. Owned by The Vintage Malt Whisky Company which was founded in 1992 by Brian Cook who was the export manager for the Auchentoshan and Bowmore Distilleries. Brian’s aim was to produce a range of malt whiskies from his country’s finest distilleries and make them available to independent wine and spirit importers throughout the world. Now the Vintage Malt Whisky Company is certainly a family-run business with Andrew Crook (Brian’s Son) taking on the mantle as Managing Director. The company has now exported over 5 million bottles worldwide.
The Strathclyde Distillery was first founded in 1927 and the first spirit was produced in 1928 in Glasgow located alongside the river Clyde. Schenley Industries of New York acquired the distillery in 1956 and added a single malt to the range branded Kinclaith. In 1975 the Kinclaith stills were decommissioned and the distillery again only primarily produced grain whisky under the owners Whitbread. It is today owned and operated by Pernod Rocard and mainly produces grain whisky for their signature blends and also independently bottled single grain whisky.
Matured in a single American Oak ex Bourbon Cask for 26 years. Distilled in 1993 and bottled in 2020 at 52.5% cask strength. Only 235 bottles were made available for worldwide distribution.
