Glenmorangie Signet Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 46% Age: No Age Statement Country: Scotland
Glenmorangie is believed to derive from either the Gaelic Gleann Mòr na Sìth which means “vale of tranquillity” or Gleann Mór-innse meaning “vale of big meadows”. Drawing its water from the Tarlogie Spring the distillery was built in 1843 on top of an old brewery. Owned by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy the distillery produces about 6 million litres of spirit each year from its 6 wash stills and 6 spirits stills.
The Glenmorangie Signet celebrates a marriage of whisky from two unique types of malted barley. A malted chocolate barley, which is better known as a basis for craft beers and a single estate Cadboll variety. The Signet carries no-age-statement, however there is said to be an element of some of the distillery’s oldest and rarest stocks, ranging from 35 to 40 years old, in this superbly presented single malt. The spirit is mainly matured in American white oak virgin casks. It is bottled at 46% abv. Winner of Whisky of the Year in the same year as Lumsden was named Master Distiller of the Year at the 2016 International Whisky Competition. The Signet takes it name from the ornate square design that adorns most Glenmorangie bottles. The signet itself originated from the Hilton of Cadboll Stone, a Pictish artefact that dates back to around the year 800 AD.
