Volume: 700ml ABV: 52.7% Age: 19 Years Old Country: Scotland
Founded by Andrea Ferrari, Hidden Spirits is a relatively new Italian independent bottler and online whisky shop, which prides itself on the meticulously careful selection of its bottlings. Hidden Spirits has its bottle labels designed by different Italian artists, and offers a variety of expressions under several series: the Highproof Collection of cask strength single casks over eight years of age; the Hidden Spirits Classic collection of single casks of varying strength over eight years of age; and the Young Rebels collection of single casks under eight years old.
Mortlach was established in 1823 in the wake of the Excise Act. Built on the site of an older illicit distillery Mortlach was the first legal distillery in Dufftown which is the epicentre on Speyside. Now under the ownership on Diageo it plays a very important role in some of the world’s finest blends. This is due to the oily meaty character it has and the mass production. Mortlach is again making its mark as a single malt with last years Diageo Special Release bottling selling out in record time.
This independent bottle by the Hidden Spirits Whisky Company was distilled at the Mortlach distillery in Speyside in 2002. It has been matured in a ex Bourbon cask then it was finished in ex-sherry wood and bottled at 52.9% ABV. It is part of “The Poker Face Collection” by Severino Del Bono. “The Poker Face Collection” has come to fruition between the collaboration of Hidden Spirits and Severino del Bono. Del Bono is a famous contemporary artist in the figurative painting scene, known internationally for maidens painted with their eyes closed. Del Bono created four unique artworks for Hidden Spirits: 4 maidens surrounded by 4 products that capture the essence and unique tones of the 4 Single Malt Scotch Whisky that comprise this collection.
