Rosebank 1990 Aged 31 Years Single Malt Scotch Whisky – Release 2 (700ml)

Volume: 700ml           ABV: 48.1%           Age: 31 Years Old           Country: Scotland

The Rosebank Distillery is situated in Camelon on the banks of the Forth of Clyde canal between Edinburgh and Glasgow. It was named Rosebank after the roses that grew along the banks of the canal. Records show that the distillery was first opened in 1798 but the site and the ownership was a little unclear. The whisky produced here was considered ‘premium’ producing spirit for many years till its closure in 1993. The reason behind the closure was the necessary upgrade required to meet European standards. In 2017 Ian MacLeod Distillers announced that they had acquired the Rosebank Whisky trademark from Diageo and the site from Scottish Canals in order to re-establish Rosebank Whisky by building a new distillery and re-commencing production in the old style. Rosebank Distillery is open again and as we wait for the new release we can enjoy some of the older spirit that’s been maturing away quietly.

This Rosebank 1990 Vintage aged 31 years is the second in a series of annual limited releases with only 4,000 bottles being made available for worldwide purchase. It has been bottled at 48.1% ABV and is non chill-filtered. Spirit was distilled just a few years before the distillery closed in 1993.

Highly collectable and highly drinkable whisky that earns one of our top ratings.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Lovely floral sweet aromas fill the air, sweet malted barley and freshly cut grass, juicy cut oranges, mango and nectarine, soft caramel beautifully integrated oak.

Palate: Wonderfully fruity complimenting the creamy malty mouthfeel, hints of honey sweetness and charred barrel show on the tropical fruit notes (mango & pineapple). There’s a hint of garden herbs and baking spices, it’s all so good.

Finish: Medium length delivering orchard fruits, pear and apple, not so sweet but fruity. Orange citrus and soft spices with hints of oak and mint.
