Raasay While We Wait Single Malt Scotch Whisky – 2018 Release (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 46% Age: No Age Statement Country: Scotland
The Isle of Raasay Distillery is the first legal distillery on the Isle of Raasay, in northwest Scotland. The distillery opened its doors in 2017 after 18 months of construction and is now producing around 100,000 litres of spirit each year. Owned by Edinburgh based firm R & B Distillers the journey began with the purchasing of Raasay’s Borodale House in 2015 and grew from this point. Producing a light and fruity but delicately smoked spirit which will be complimented using first fill American oak, European oak and Tuscan red wine casks.
The distillery has produced a 700ml bottle of whisky to give the whisky connoisseur a look at what is maturing in their warehouses and to tease us with what to expect in the very near future. It’s a taste of what is to come. The whisky is a blend of two single malts (still a single malt as the two whiskies are from the same distillery). One of the single malts is unpeated and has been matured in ex-bourbon American oak, the other a peated single malt matured in the same type of barrels. They are then finished in Tuscan wine casks for 18 months. The first release was finished for 8 weeks. Bottled at 46% abv, this is the second release from the distillery.
