Murray McDavid are highly respected in the Scotch whisky industry, mainly for independently bottling whisky after selecting and ageing the spirit in high quality oak casks. Established in 1996 by Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin, and Gordon Wright at the closed site of the Coleburn distillery in Speyside, Scotland. They are also known for the purchase of the closed Bruichladdich Distillery in 2000 and reopening this dormant distillery. They did such a good job of restoring production it was sold to Remy Cointreau in 2012 with a considerable profit.
This independent bottling by Murray McDavid has been initially matured in refill Bourbon Hogsheads then finished in ex Port Barriques. Bottled at 44.5% ABV as part of the Murray McDavid Art Of Maturation series.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Autumn berries, golden syrup, old tobacco box, warm dark chocolate.
Palate: Deep fried Violet Crumble bars, dark fruits of sultana and raisin with a fresh crack of black pepper.
Finish: Long with berry jam, dark chocolate and new leather.
About The Distillery
The Mannochmore Distillery is owned and operated by Diageo and it is located in Elgin situated in Scotland Speyside whisky region. Founded in 1971 by John Haig & Co. The distillery is was quite unusual, it only opened for 12 month periods and then was closed for 12 months alternating with the nearby Glenlossie distillery of which it shared its employees. Since 2008 the distillery operates continuously and has its own crew of employees.
