Volume: 700ml ABV: 40% Age: 10 years Country: Scotland
The Isle of Jura Distillery is a single malt whisky distillery located on the island of Jura in the Inner Hebrides off the West Coast of Scotland, about a stones through away from Islay. The distillery is owned by Glasgow based company named Whyte and Mackay who are famous for the blended whisky of the same name. Founded in 1810 by the Laird of Jura, Archibald Campbell it was operational till 1884 when it fell into disrepair. The distillery was dismantled and it wasn’t till the 1950’s the distillery was revived by Robin Fletcher and Tony Riley-Smith who were keen to revive the local economy. Installation of taller stills in 1963 allowed the distillery to create a mix of wonderful malt whiskies.
This single malt whisky is offered as part of the new Jura core product range in 2018. Aged in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and then finished in Oloroso sherry butts, bottled at 40% abv. A great introduction to the single malts produced at the Jura distillery.
